St Sebastian
St Sebastian – Our School Saint
St Sebastian is the special saint of our school, and his life inspires us to live with courage, faith, and kindness every day.
Sebastian lived a long time ago, around 1,700 years ago, in the city of Rome. He was a brave soldier, but he was also a loyal follower of Jesus. At a time when it was dangerous to be a Christian, Sebastian quietly helped others who believed in God. He encouraged them, cared for them, and reminded them to stay strong in their faith.
When the Roman Emperor discovered that Sebastian was a Christian, he was punished for his faith. Even though he suffered greatly, Sebastian never gave up believing in God. His courage and trust showed how much he loved Jesus. Today, he is remembered as a martyr—a holy person who gave their life for their faith.
What St Sebastian teaches us
At St Sebastian’s RC Primary School, we follow his example by trying to:
Be courageous – standing up for what is right, even when it is difficult
Show kindness and care – supporting one another, especially in times of need
Stay faithful – trusting in God and living out our beliefs each day
Encourage others – helping our friends to be their best and never giving up
Living our school charism
Inspired by St Sebastian, we aim to be a school family where everyone feels safe, valued, and loved. Just as Sebastian helped others and stayed strong in his faith, we work together to build a community rooted in kindness, love, joy, peace, truth and respect.
Through our prayer, learning, and daily actions, we try to follow in his footsteps—growing closer to God and helping each other to shine.
