Catholic Social Teaching
Through bespoke provision gardening activities, the pupils in the God’s Gardeners team have gained a clear sense of purpose, dignity and belonging, reflecting the Catholic Social Teaching principle of the dignity of the human person. The outdoor, physical nature of the work has contributed positively to behaviour, wellbeing and engagement, while deepening scientific understanding and faith in action.
Pupils actively participate and work in solidarity, demonstrating commitment, cooperation and shared responsibility for the common good. They can confidently explain their actions and understand how their contributions benefit others, both now and in the future.
Through caring for the garden, pupils recognise their role as stewards of creation, responding to God’s call to protect and nurture the Earth. By planting flowers to support bees, birds and other wildlife, and growing vegetables, fruit and herbs in a previously neglected space, pupils have developed a strong understanding of sustainability and care for creation. This project brings Catholic Social Teaching to life through meaningful participation, responsibility and respect for God’s world.
