Attendance
At St Sebastian’s RC Primary School, we strive for the highest possible standard of education for all pupils and recognise that this can only be achieved by supporting and promoting excellent attendance and punctuality. This is based on the belief that only by attending school regularly and punctually will pupils be able to take full advantage of the educational opportunities available to them. Our Attendance Policy can be viewed in the files below.
Parents / carers play a key role in ensuring primary-aged pupils attend school regularly and arrive on time. School gates open at 8.40am and registers are taken at 8.45pm. We have created an Attendance and Punctuality Factsheet with parents which can be viewed in the files below.
Our target attendance for the whole school is 96%.
Our attendance in the acadmic year 2022-2023 was 92.71%.
Our attendance in the acadmic year 2023-2024 was 93.1%.
Our current attendance is 92.7% (to 23/5/2025).
There is a clear link between attendance and acadmic achievement. The poster How School Attendance Affects Learning, in the files below, highlights this.
