Remote Learning
In addition to online learning we will send out ideas for practical things to do with your child. Please try to make time to play and talk to your child each day. Play is how young children learn. Online learning has its benefits but spending long periods of time on a device is detrimental to a young child’s mental health and development of social, speech and language skills. As a guide the NHS website says that children under the age of 5 years should:
· Be physically active for at least 180 minutes a day, with at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous activity, spread through the day
· Not be kept at an activity for more than an hour at a time, and have no more than 1 hour a day screen time, preferably less
· Have 10 to 13 hours of good-quality sleep, with regular sleep and wake times.
Boys and girls - we know it can be hard being out of a routine and away from your friends and teachers, but we will be together again soon. If you are feeling down, remember we are here, or speak to your friends and family - sometimes just talking helps you to feel better!
We can't wait to see the wonderful work you produce. We miss you all and can't wait to see you in class soon!

Academic Support:
● Work will be set that continues to put into practise any previous learning from the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
● These activities will cover the full range of the curriculum taking into account parent’s availability whilst working from home and access to resources.
Feedback:
· Parents will use Tapestry to record what their child has done using photographs, videos or typed notes. Teachers will respond via Tapestry giving feedback to parents and children.
Online Contact:
· Parents using Tapestry can contact their child’s class teacher and comment on their children’s learning online.
· Children can contact their teacher via Tapestry.
Expectations:
● Tasks / Activities provided should support learning for 2hrs per day. For EYFS children activities should be done in ‘short bursts’.
●Completion and evidence of completing tasks set for the key skills of Phonics, Reading and Maths. Please send evidence at least twice a week in the form of several photographs or videos with some explanatory notes via an observation on Tapestry. If this isn’t possible please speak to the class teacher.
Staying Safe Online
Our eCadets have written our Online Safety Policy to help you stay safe online.
Screen Time for Parents
It is also advised for adults to take a 5-10 break, after 50-60 minutes of continuous screen work.
When working on a computer:
■ Stretch and change position.
■ Look into the distance from time to time, and blink often.
■ Change activity before you get tired, rather than to recover.
■ Short, frequent breaks are better than longer, infrequent ones.
