St. Sebastian's R. C. Primary School

In History this term, we have been focusing on Medicine Through the Ages... and wow, what a topic!

We have learned about some ancient (and pretty gross) treatments that the sick and diseased relied on from thousands of years ago, as well as how the social influences such as wealth and living conditions impacted these ideas and beliefs.

Each lesson comprised of learning about medicine and disease in a new time period and comparing it to the last, to get a grasp of how these beliefs or cures really developed over time, with the help of experts or new scientific research.

We concluded by looking at the healthcare available in our modern society, focusing on the strength of the NHS and life-savings surgeries. We soon realised how lucky we are that we no longer require a disc to be cut out of our head when we have a cough!
