Expressive Arts and Design

We had great fun in Reception today making finger tip flags ready for our Jubilee celebration on Friday.

Portraits of the Queen by Reception

This half term, the children in Reception have been studying the work of Giuseppe Arcimboldo. We have used natural objects from around our classroom to create our own pieces of art just like Arcimboldo. Italian painter Giuseppe Arcimboldo used fruits, vegetables, animals, books, and other objects to resemble human portraits.

This week in class, we have been reading the story The Snail and the Whale. In provision, we had the opportunity to look at a piece of art call The Snail by Henri Mattisetis. We were so inspired by his work that we decided to recreate this famous piece.
