Reading is invaluable to develop your child’s knowledge of the world, imagination, vocabulary, understanding of punctuation and lots more. It is therefore advisable that they read for twenty minutes at least five evenings. Even though your child is older and may be a fluent reader it is still important that they read to an adult and discuss the themes and characters of the book. Please sign your child’s reading log at least five times per week. Your child will be allotted a day when their reading journal will be checked.
Whilst preparing for SAT's, the children will have 10 spellings each Monday, Wednesday and Friday. They will be tested on those days, the following week. It would be beneficial to the children if they regularly looked at the Year 5 and 6 spelling list of 100 words which has previously been sent home.
English grammar homework will be set each Friday to consolidate the teaching over the course of the week.
Maths homework will be set by Mr Barry three times per week to consolidate concepts taught that day. It will be expected to be completed for the following session.
Every Monday 3-4 pm is Book Club with Miss Coffey. Maths booster from 8 - 8.30 am will continue every morning with Mr Barry. Reading booster will continue on Thursday and Friday 3-4 pm with Mrs Taylor. Your child will have received a letter for which day they should attend.
