In art we have been learning about drawing self portraits. We drew our own self portraits by observing carefully. We used mirrors and worked hard to draw what we could see and we used our shading skills to enhance our portraits.
In ICT we have been thinking about on-line safety. We made our own ‘messy emoji’s’ to help us think about computer safety. We used oil pastels and special paint to create our emoji’s and then wrote a speech bubble explaining ways to keep safe on line.
In science we have been learning about Animals including Humans. We learned about carnivores, omnivores and herbivores and then identified a range of different animals, which group they belonged to and what they ate using the laptops. We were surprised to find out that ladybirds are carnivores and that giant pandas are omnivores!
We had a visit from Warburtons who told us all about the bread making process and also about what we should eat to stay healthy. We made our own sandwiches and filled them with lots of delicious food!
In our geography work we have been thinking about our local area. We went outside and observed the physical and human geographical features of the playgrounds and surrounding area. We also looked at aerial maps of the school grounds. Then we used this information to help create our own maps of the school and surrounding area.
In Geography we looked at a variety of maps and located Salford and the Northwest of England. We also looked at an atlas and found the UK. We spent time identifying the four countries of the UK, the four seas which surround it and the capital cities. Then we looked at a globe and located the UK, Europe and the other continents and oceans on it.
