How do we achieve them?
In order to cover each learning area we participate in a range of activities each day, some together as a whole group, and some through each child’s personal choice. Some of the group activities include Phonics, Literacy, Numeracy and Outdoor Play. ‘Choosing time’ includes construction, the use of the class computer, sand, water, the role-play area, writing area, small world, painting, play-dough, model making and the book corner. Each of these activities is set up to reflect the topic we are focusing on each half term and is changed on a weekly basis.
How do we monitor your child’s progress?
To help monitor the children’s progress each child has their own Achievement Record. This profile includes photographs, staff comments, examples of the children’s work and the objectives they have met. This will be available for parents to look at, should they feel the need, at any time. Parents will also be invited to add any comments into their child’s achievement record if they have noticed any particular development in the home environment. In the Foundation Stage we view parents as ‘partners’ and any comments or observations you have will be greatly valued.
